Staying organised and being transparent helps your customers and your team know where they stand at any given time.
I’m Sunny Chowdhury, and I’m the Customer Relationship Partner here at KaarbonTech.
What I did previously is I was an Operations Manager in hospitality. My key responsibilities were not only opening new sites, but overseeing budgets, sales forecasts and, most importantly, the development of team members.
As I develop in the role, the area where I really want to grow is the technology and data side of the business. As technology improves and feeds into more data, I really want to be involved in that. I want to be involved with the minds behind it and see the world the way they see it — how they come up with different technology to help their councils, and what inspires those ideas.
I was in a position in my previous role where pressure was a day-to-day thing. Being on the end of that, and guiding and advising customers on the other side, comes quite naturally to me because I understand the pressures and I understand the time constraints.
If I didn’t take this career path, I’d always see myself in a role where I’m helping people. My dream role was always to be a paramedic and have my own charity.
Outside of work, I like spending all of my time with my daughter. So if I’m not at work, if I’m not at the gym, then I’ll be out doing activities with my daughter, whether that’s taking her to the museum or to the park. That’s where I really reset.
My favourite dessert of all time has to be my wife’s homemade mango cheesecake. Delicious.
I want to fulfil my role in a way where all of my customers know that if they do need help, if they do need any assistance, I’m just a phone call away.
Sunny Chowdhury joined KaarbonTech as a Customer Relationship Partner, bringing with him years of experience in customer service, hospitality operations and team management. Calm under pressure, organised and genuinely people-focused, Sunny’s role is all about helping customers feel supported, understood and able to get the most from their relationship with KaarbonTech.
Understanding Pressure from Experience
Before joining KaarbonTech, Sunny worked as an Operations Manager in hospitality, where he was responsible for opening new sites, overseeing budgets and sales forecasts, and supporting the development of team members.
That background gave him first-hand experience of working in a pressured environment, where budgets, time constraints and day-to-day challenges all need to be managed carefully. It’s this understanding that now shapes how he supports customers, helping him relate to the pressures local authorities and contractors face.
Building Genuine Relationships
For Sunny, customer relationships are built on honesty, consistency and being approachable. His role is not just about responding to one email or one phone call, but about building long-term relationships across the people involved in each contract.
He believes that when relationships are genuine, it becomes easier to work through challenges together. By staying organised, transparent and available, Sunny helps customers and internal teams understand where things stand and what needs to happen next.
Bringing Calm and Clarity
One of Sunny’s key strengths is his ability to stay calm and level-headed under pressure. He describes himself as direct, organised and honest — qualities that help him give clear answers, manage expectations and support customers when they need guidance.
As he develops in the role, Sunny is particularly interested in learning more about the technology and data behind KaarbonTech’s work. Coming from outside the sector, he has been struck by how much technology supports the management of everyday infrastructure — from gullies and grass to trees and wider operational services.
Life Outside Work
Outside of work, Sunny spends most of his time with his daughter, whether that’s visiting museums, going to the park or finding new activities to enjoy together. He also enjoys going to the gym and getting outdoors when he can.
Something that might surprise people is that Sunny used to play the violin and was once selected as part of a BBC documentary project, earning himself a Blue Peter badge along the way.
And when it comes to dessert, there’s one clear winner: his wife’s homemade mango cheesecake.
In Sunny’s Words
“I want to fulfil my role in a way where all of my customers know that if they need help or assistance, I’m just a phone call away.”
