My name’s Sophie McCormack, and I’m Executive Business Support at KaarbonTech.
My role sits at the heart of the organisation, supporting a number of different functions and helping things run smoothly behind the scenes.
Before joining KaarbonTech, I spent most of my career working across the NHS and third sector in a variety of operational roles. My experience includes project management, departmental management, HR, IT, strategy and organisational transformation, so I’ve been fortunate to build a broad range of experience that I can now bring into this role.
What attracted me to KaarbonTech was that it felt like a very forward-thinking and innovative organisation. It also felt a little unconventional in the way it approaches challenges, and I really liked that. It seemed like an exciting place to work, where people are encouraged to think differently and continuously improve.
Over the next year, I’m looking forward to learning about a completely new industry, understanding the challenges our customers face and discovering how we can help solve them.
Outside of work, I enjoy running, walking the dog and spending as much time outdoors as possible. If I hadn’t followed this career path, I’d probably be working with animals or in an outdoor role.

Sophie joined KaarbonTech as Executive Business Support, bringing a broad operational background and a passion for helping organisations work more effectively. Sitting at the heart of the business, her role supports multiple teams, helping coordinate activity, improve ways of working and provide the structure that enables the wider organisation to succeed.
A Diverse Operational Background
Before joining KaarbonTech, Sophie spent much of her career working across the NHS and third sector in a variety of operational roles. Sophie describes herself as naturally solutions focused and enjoys understanding how organisations operate, identifying opportunities for improvement and helping implement practical changes that make a tangible difference.
She was particularly attracted to KaarbonTech’s forward-thinking approach and the opportunity to join a business that embraces innovation, encourages new ideas and approaches challenges differently. The variety of the role and the opportunity to support colleagues across the organisation were also key reasons for joining the business.
Looking Ahead
As she settles into her new role, Sophie is looking forward to learning more about the highways sector, understanding the challenges faced by local authorities and supporting the continued development of the business behind the scenes.
She hopes to bring additional structure, coordination and operational support to KaarbonTech, helping ensure teams have the foundations they need to continue delivering for customers.
