What excites me most about working with local authorities is the work we’re doing on the ground and seeing how it improves people’s lives — not just within the council, but across communities as well.
My name’s Lucy, and I’m a Market Insight and Engagement Coordinator at KaarbonTech.
What attracted me to KaarbonTech is that it’s a growing company, with lots of room for me to grow and develop. I also love that the work we do genuinely helps people and communities.
I think bringing fresh perspectives is always a good thing. The innovation and lateral thinking that comes from having a new set of eyes — along with the eagerness and excitement of learning a new industry — is really special.
My biggest strengths are communication, rapport building and my work ethic, and I feel like I bring a good mix of those into the team.
One of the biggest surprises for me when it comes to highways has been learning just how much goes into keeping everything running well. There are so many different aspects and so many people working hard behind the scenes, and I hadn’t realised just how much was involved.
Outside of work, I love being active and outdoors — pretty much anything involving the ocean. I also enjoy reading and writing creatively.
Something that might surprise people about me is that I’m a huge Lord of the Rings fan. I’ve even been to Hobbiton, and it was amazing.
My favourite dessert is a tough one, but I’d have to say banoffee pie — even though I know that’s controversial.
I think I’ll be able to help local authorities by building new connections, strengthening existing ones and bringing more people to the table.

Coming into highways from outside the sector, Lucy has been struck by just how much work goes on behind the scenes to keep services running smoothly. From the range of specialisms involved to the sheer effort required to maintain everyday infrastructure, it’s a complexity she hadn’t fully appreciated before — and one she’s now keen to help communicate more clearly.
Connecting People and Insight
Lucy’s role centres on understanding organisations, building rapport and bringing the right people into the conversation. With strong communication skills and a natural ability to connect, she helps strengthen existing relationships while opening doors to new ones — ensuring insight, experience and feedback flow both ways.

Outside of work, Lucy loves being active and spending time outdoors — especially anywhere near the ocean. She also enjoys reading and writing creatively. And for anyone who didn’t know: she’s a huge Lord of the Rings fan and has even visited Hobbiton.
