Our Vision

We’re on a mission to help communities thrive

Our vision is to help communities thrive, providing our customers with innovative tools to drive future progress. Our people enable us to do that.

About the Opportunity

KaarbonTech is looking for a curious, creative and confident Communicator to help us find the stories worth telling - and communicate them in ways that people understand, remember and act on.

Communication sits at the heart of this role. You might be interviewing a customer for a case study, turning a campaign focus into an article or press release, spotting something interesting in a council report, creating social content, supporting a sales conversation or colleagues,

This is an early-career role. You do not need to arrive knowing local government, highways or infrastructure. We are looking for someone with the underlying curiosity, judgement and communication ability to learn the sector, build confidence and grow into increasingly independent responsibility over time.

About KaarbonTech

KaarbonTech is a UK-based infrastructure asset management and data company working with over 70 local authorities across the UK. Through software, data, surveying and advisory services, we help authorities make better, evidence-led decisions across drainage, highways, trees, greenspaces and wider infrastructure.

We're a predominantly remote-working business, but a very connected one. Good communication matters to how we share what we know, explain complex work, support our customers and create new opportunities.

The Role

As Communicator, you'll help turn KaarbonTech's ideas, evidence, customer stories, campaigns and market insight into clear communications for different audiences and formats.

Research is a big part of that. We want someone who can look through news, council papers, customer conversations, meeting notes or existing content and spot what is valuable - then work out whether it could become an article, case study, social post, sales hook, customer story or something worth raising internally.

You'll also help run our cross-department Marketing campaigns: creating content, interviewing people, coordinating contributors, keeping activity moving and reviewing what the campaign actually achieved. You'll work closely with Customer Relationship, Business Development and our videographer, so this is a role for someone comfortable working with people as well as words.

Key Responsibilities

·       Create clear, engaging communications across articles, case studies, press releases, information packs, social media, customer communications and other campaign content.

·       Research customers, local authorities, industry news, meeting papers and other sources to identify useful stories, evidence, trends and potential commercial opportunities.

·       Interview customers and colleagues, asking good questions and identifying the evidence, quotes and detail that make a story credible and interesting.

·       Help deliver agreed Marketing campaigns from plan into action, coordinating content, stakeholders, deadlines and activity across different departments.

·       Keep KaarbonTech's social channels active with relevant content, and review performance to understand what is working and what could improve.

·       Work with our videographer/cinematographer to shape interviews, scripts and storylines, and be comfortable communicating on camera yourself where appropriate.

·       Support simple visual communication such as infographics and campaign assets using tools such as Adobe.

·       Support monthly SEO and website performance reporting, developing your knowledge of tools such as GA4 and Google Search Console and helping implement improvements.

·       Support Customer Relationship and Business Development teams with tailored content, evidence and communications that help open or progress useful customer conversations.

·       Help colleagues across KaarbonTech understand and apply our tone of voice and positioning, while reviewing customer-facing communications and sharing practical feedback to keep how we communicate clear, consistent and commercially aware.

What We're Looking For

We're more interested in how you think, communicate and learn than whether you've followed one exact career path.

·       A strong written and verbal communicator who can make complex information clear and interesting.

·       Naturally curious - you ask questions, look beyond the obvious and enjoy finding the interesting part of a story or problem.

·       Creative, with ideas about how information could be communicated differently or more effectively.

·       Confident speaking with people, including customers and colleagues, and willing to develop confidence in presentations, events and on-camera communication.

·       A good researcher with the judgement to recognise what matters, what is credible and what is worth communicating.

·       Commercially aware and interested in how good communication can create opportunities and support sales without needing to be a salesperson.

·       Organised and comfortable coordinating several pieces of content, people and activity at the same time.

·       Someone who wants to learn - about KaarbonTech, our customers, our sector and how to become a better communicator.

Experience

This is an early-career opportunity. Experience, education or a genuine interest in any of the following would be useful:

·       Journalism, communications, public relations, content or marketing. A journalism background is particularly relevant, but not essential.

·       Researching a topic, interviewing people, finding an angle and turning information into a clear story.

·       Writing for different formats or audiences, whether professionally, academically or through your own projects.

·       Social media, Canva or Adobe Express, basic visual content, video communication or other digital content creation.

·       SEO, website analytics, GA4 or Google Search Console - useful, but absolutely something you can learn here.

·       Customer-facing work, events, presentations or any role where you have needed to communicate confidently with different people.

Why Join KaarbonTech?

·       A role designed to develop with you, with the opportunity to grow from supported delivery into increasingly independent communication, research and campaign responsibility.

·       Freedom to bring ideas, ask questions and turn useful research into something the business can act on.

·       Flexible SMART Working in a predominantly remote-working business.

·       Unlimited SMART Leave.

·       A supportive, collaborative team where curiosity is encouraged and good ideas can quickly become action.
