We are seeking an experienced, credible and commercially astute Chief Sales Officer to provide executive leadership across KaarbonTech’s sales and market engagement activity. This is a senior role at the heart of a growing technology-enabled services business, responsible for driving sustainable growth, strengthening customer relationships and ensuring commercial activity aligns with delivery capability.

 

KaarbonTech is a leading data and software company specialising in managing highways, drainage, trees and wider green infrastructure for local authorities across the UK. Our technology is supported by national surveying, maintenance and advisory services, helping councils understand, prioritise and invest in critical assets. We currently work with over 40% of local authorities in England, supporting evidence-led decision making across operational and strategic teams.

 

The successful candidate will bring strong leadership across complex, public-sector sales environments, with a clear understanding of how long-term value is built through trust, credibility and consistency. You will play a central role in delivering commercial strategy, mentoring the existing sales team and working closely with commercial, operations, and product teams to ensure growth is deliverable, resilient and aligned to the wider business.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Implement KaarbonTech’s commercial strategy, aligning sales execution with product, operations and long-term growth plans.

• Translate company objectives into clear, executable sales plans and targets.

• Be accountable for achieving agreed sales targets, pipeline performance and sustainable revenue growth at board level. 

• Build and maintain senior relationships with local authority decision-makers and strategic partners.

• Lead pipeline management, forecasting and performance reporting.

• Guide complex, multi-stakeholder sales opportunities from early engagement through to contract award.

• Mentor and coach the existing sales team, strengthening capability, confidence and consistency.

• Oversee bids, tenders and major proposals, ensuring pricing and scope are deliverable and sustainable.

• Work closely with commercial, operations, product and finance teams to align commercial priorities with sales delivery.

• Feed structured customer insight back into business strategy and product development.

 

Skills and Experience 

• Senior sales leadership experience within local authority, infrastructure or regulated public-sector markets.

• Proven ability leading a sales team function to deliver agreed sales targets and pipeline performance.

• Proven consultative sales background, including complex and long-cycle opportunities.

• Strong understanding of public-sector procurement and governance environments.

• Experience mentoring and developing sales teams.

• Commercially astute, with a clear understanding of sustainable growth and delivery risk.

• Comfortable operating at executive level while remaining engaged in live opportunities.

 

Working Pattern

This is a remote-based role with regular national travel to customers, partners and internal teams. Occasional overnight stays should be expected.
