We are seeking an experienced, grounded and commercially astute Chief Operating Officer to provide executive leadership across KaarbonTech’s national operations. This is a senior role at the heart of a growing technology-enabled services business, responsible for ensuring the company operates safely, efficiently and sustainably as it continues to scale.
KaarbonTech is a leading data and software company specialising in managing highways, drainage, trees and wider green infrastructure for local authorities across the UK. Our technology is supported by national surveying, maintenance and advisory services, helping councils understand, prioritise and invest in critical assets. We currently work with over 40% of local authorities in England, supporting evidence-led decision making across operational and strategic teams.
The successful candidate will bring strong operational leadership, financial discipline and a practical understanding of field-based service delivery. You will play a central role in translating company strategy into reliable operational and financial delivery, ensuring our people, systems and processes are aligned to support long-term growth. This role works closely with the CEO and leadership team, providing structure, clarity and oversight across day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities
Provide executive ownership of KaarbonTech’s operational model, with national field delivery at its core.
Lead and scale multi-disciplinary operational teams across surveying, drainage maintenance and related services.
Translate strategic operational and financial objectives into executable operational plans, capacity models and performance measures.
Own financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and cost control across operations.
Improve operational and financial unit economics, utilisation and margin while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Ensure robust health & safety, compliance and governance frameworks are embedded and effective.
Lead people operations, organisational design and leadership capability as the business grows.
Oversee procurement, fleet, supplier management and operational systems.
Work closely with Product, Sales and Customer teams to ensure operational readiness and delivery alignment.

Data-led and systems-oriented, comfortable using technology and platforms to run operations effectively.
Clear communicator with the ability to align teams around priorities and standards.
Essential & Desirable Experience
Senior operational leadership within surveying, highways, infrastructure or field-based services.
Experience scaling dispersed, multi-region delivery teams.
Experience of setting forecasts, budgets and taking accountability for operational delivery to financial targets.
Strong understanding of regulated or safety-critical operating environments.
Proven ownership of operational budgets, forecasting and performance improvement.
Experience working with or alongside local authorities or public sector organisations is highly desirable.
Exposure to SaaS-enabled or technology-supported service models is beneficial but not essential.

Salary: £80,000 + Equity
Location: Remote (UK-based), with regular national travel
