I've been working with Android since 2007, since even before the first phone arrived, we had a
pre-release version and I was working with it and writing the guides ready for release day.
My name's Pete Whiteley and I'm a technical support technician and a software tester.
Prior to joining KaarbonTech, I was a knowledge author. The company I worked for previously was outsourcing to multiple networks and mobile phone manufacturers all around the world.
That experience helps me with KaarbonTech customers because I know the devices they're using inside out. The satisfaction I get when someone calls in with a problem and I can help them with it. The people I work with are great and every day is different. The variety is fantastic.
My highlight of my time with KaarbonTech, probably the first time I actually did in some onsite training with a customer. I was very nervous. It's something I hadn't specifically done before, but it went really well, and again, I really enjoyed the fact that I was able to help these people learn how to use the system better and make their, their working lives easier.
So outside of work, you'll quite often find me out in the New Forest or down in Devon riding my bike everywhere. I'm into my retro gaming, especially the old Nintendo handheld, so I've got a collection of Game Boys.
Something that might surprise people is I'm also into lock picking, so I have lots of various different locks that I quite happily sit there and pick apart. And I also, when I was younger I used to be a county level ten pin bowler.
Introducing Pete Whiteley, Technical Support & Software Tester
With a tech career spanning two decades, Pete brings a wealth of hands-on IT experience to his role as Technical Support Technician and Software Tester at KaarbonTech.
Built on a Foundation of Knowledge
Before joining KaarbonTech in 2018, Pete spent years crafting user guides and support content for global mobile networks and manufacturers, including as a pre-release device tester for mobile phones. That attention to detail and deep understanding of Android devices means he not only knows the tech — he knows how to explain it. His early work even involved preparing documentation before Android’s official worldwide release.
Every Day is Different
Pete is often the first port of call for customer support — whether it’s helping troubleshoot on the ground, testing new software functionality, or making sense of an unfamiliar device. He thrives on variety, enjoys the challenge of unexpected questions, and values the satisfaction of helping customers work more efficiently.
From Desk to Onsite
A personal highlight for Pete was stepping out of his comfort zone and leading onsite training for the first time. Nervous to begin with, he found it incredibly rewarding to help customers build their skills and confidence with the KaarbonTech system.
Beyond the Day Job
When he’s not troubleshooting or testing, you’ll likely find Pete exploring Devon or the New Forest on two wheels or indulging his love for retro gaming — especially vintage Game Boys. He’s also a hobbyist lock-picker and, in a past life, was a county-level ten-pin bowler.
In Pete’s Words:
“The best part of the job is helping someone find a solution — especially when you know it’s made their day easier”
